A39 was launched April 1933 by Yarwoods of Northwich Commissioned by British Isles Transport as one of their grain barges, to work the run from Birkenhead to Blackburn along with A36-A42. Later working 1960-9 in Leigh Branch/Wigan for Hargreaves as a coal barge. 1970 sold into the leisure market and then converted as a passenger vessel starting operational in 1972 in Liverpool renamed Peace. Her other identities have been Show Boat in Wigan Pier and Floating Bistro in Maghull A & G Passenger Boats have operated this historic vessel since 2000 returning her to her original name.
Dimensions 14ft x 61ft6in. Draft 3ft Air draft 8ft8in, with collapsed entrance canopy 7ft.
She is tiller steared with dual external controls (throttle, forward/reverse)
Original Engine room - Engine 1941 Gardner 2LW with Gardner 2UC reversing box and Gardener 2to1 reduction box,- excellent condition. Serviced by gardner 2002(this replaced its initial Widdup engine)
